Our thriving youth group – WADS Youth – is a vital, valued and fully integrated part of the Society. It welcomes all youngsters, regardless of experience or ability, aged 10-18. Unlike many other theatre groups for young people, there is no audition process for those wanting to join – all we ask is commitment and enthusiasm.
Our young members act alongside adults when a script calls for it (we put on a pantomime every other Christmas) and in their own productions. The last three WADS Youth productions have been written and/or directed by the Members themselves.
We also encourage interested youngsters to take a fully active role behind the scenes in all productions – for example, the lighting designer and operator on our last pantomime was only 21 and the sound operator sat alongside him in the box was just 14.
We are proud to provide youngsters with great opportunities that genuinely recognise the real contribution their wide abilities and enthusiasm can make.
