2010 : Flint street nativity

Flint Street Nativity -  Directed by Ellie Stiles – Winter 2010

At Flint Street Primary School Mrs Horrocks’ class of seven year olds is about to perform their Nativity for proud parents – and the occasional Social worker. But all is not well back stage; the Angel Gabriel is somewhat miffed because she wants to play Mary; the Star is equally upset because he doesn’t meet NASA’s specifications; the subversive innkeeper is determined to liven up what he feels is a lacklustre script; Herod won’t stop waving to his Dad… and then the classroom pet (a stick insect named Peter Crouch) escapes…

This comical, yet poignant play was for everyone who had ever watched, or been, in a nativity play – warm, witty and very funny.  Playwright Tim Firth further heightened the comedy of the piece by writing it so that the cast of children were all played by adults.

This play will always be remembered by the cast, for rehearsals that created more laughter than any in WADS history.
